During the month of December, ELC and Lower School students learned about the Chanukah game Dreidel. Each student received a dreidel to keep. If you are looking for the "rules," here are the guidelines that we played with in library class.
1. Each person is given 3 pieces to play with. Traditionally, it is played with gelt (chocolate coins).
2. Each person puts 1 piece into the "pot" and then each take turns to spin the dreidel.
3. When the pot is empty, it may be filled with "donations" from other players.
Spin rules:
1. Nun: Do nothing, pass to the next person.
2. Gimmel: Take the whole pot.
3. Hay: Take half of the pot. If it is an odd number, round up.
4. Shin: put 1-3 items in the pot or all of your holdings. Decide on this before beginning.
